EU passes 15th round of sanctions against Russia

The European Council announced on the 16th that it had approved the 15th round of sanctions against Russia. A centerpiece of the new sanctions targets Russia's so-called "shadow fleet" of ships that the EU accuses of being used to circumvent oil price caps and trade sanctions. In addition, 54 individuals and 30 organizations were added to the sanctions list.

Since the outbreak of the Ukraine crisis, the EU has significantly stepped up sanctions against Russia. In response, Russia also implemented a series of countermeasures.
